Nek Chand Rock Garden - in progress
"we used mortar and cement and a bit of sifted sand. I buttered a wet tile, and tapped to stick to a wet wall. The tiles were all donated from renovations/etc. Everything in the 25 acre garden was recycled/repurposed. I as only there for 1.5 weeks, everyone else was to be there for 3 weeks-month... if you want to go, check with http://www.nekchand.com/ -there is a volunteer link... " (info from photographer) I only wish I had been there...

Italica nova urbs, built in 119 A.D by Hadrian, whose birthplace this was. The project honoured Trajan, Hadrian's adoptive father, whose home town was also here. The vetus urbs - now mostly underneath the modern town of Santiponce - was built in 206 B.C.
Leda and the Swan Mosaic at Kouklia, Cyprus
"Kouklia was the home to a cult of Aphrodite from at least 3,800 BC and was mentioned in many ancient texts, including Homer's Iliad. The temple complex is now largely in ruins but the many art treasures found there are now in museums in New York, Paris, London and Nicosia.
This is actually a copy of a 3rd century AD mosaic of Leda and the Swan at Kouklia. The original is in the museum but this copy was placed in the exact spot where the original was found."
